Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has launched a new immersive volunteer experience in India, in partnership with social charity ME to WE and The Travel Corporations (TTC)’s not-for-profit, the TreadRight Foundation. From January 2017, the volunteer experience will be available to Uniworld guests as a pre-cruise extension on the 13 day Golden Triangle & the Sacred Ganges itinerary. The transformative pre-cruise extension allows Uniworld guests to participate in a sustainable development project alongside local families in rural Rajasthan. The experience will immerse guests in rural Indian lifestyle and lay the groundwork for a deeper understanding of the culture, its people and geography, before embarking on an unforgettable cruise along the Ganges.
Volunteers will get hands-on as they lay bricks for a new community classroom, and help dig a new clean water system to improve irrigation in the surrounding communities. They will also participate in centuries-old traditional crafts like tie-dying and block-printing, and enjoy sightseeing activities such as a visit to the Kumbhalgarh Fort in the Aravalli Hills. To really embrace the Indian culture and its traditions, volunteers are also invited to begin each morning with an enlightening yoga session.
The five day pre-cruise ME to WE extension starts from $2,375 USD per person, and includes three nights’ accommodation at Araveli Cottages and Tented Camp (which offers well-appointed private cottages and luxury tents), one overnight at the Oberoi Gurgaon, all meals and drinks (including wine and beer), a range of a sightseeing activities, return flights from Delhi to Udaipur, all ground transportation and the expertise of ME to WE professional facilitators.
Uniworld’s Golden Triangle & the Sacred Ganges 13-day river cruise and land itinerary from New Delhi to Kolkata is priced from £5,979 per person. 2017 cruise departures begin on 12 January 2017 and continue throughout January, February, March, September, October, November and December 2017.
