Being a penguin fanatic is not a prerequisite for working with Aurora Expeditions – but it certainly helps. The cruising expert, which specializes in intrepid voyages to remote locations, are delighted that World Penguin Day is just around the corner – a celebration that heralds one of their favorite animals. This year the Polar cruising company is encouraging other penguin fanatics to get snap happy and share their favorite images with the hashtag #MyPenguinMoment.
The polar regions are Aurora Expedition’s forte, and the icy temperatures and glacial conditions bring the lovable penguin – an animal designed to survive against the harsh environment of Antarctica. Spotting penguins from the Polar Pioneer among the company of on-board naturalists and biologists, snorkeling amongst the playful aquatic birds diving into the glacial waters, and even camping on ice to be woken to the curious gaze of a family of penguins – no other expedition offers such a personal and close-up experience with wildlife or the opportunity to capture such incredible photographs.
With this in mind, Aurora Expedition’s are commencing a photo competition on World Penguin Day to invite penguin enthusiasts to share their favorite penguin moments. Entrants will be able to share their best penguin photograph moment on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #MyPenguinMoment along with a comment to highlight exactly what they love about the playful animal.
Whether they’ve snapped a picture of a penguin at the zoo, they donned a penguin onesie, or they’ve been lucky enough to see the bird in its natural habitat in Antarctica, Australia or South Africa, Aurora Expeditions are so excited to see the pictures that they might even be giving away some fantastic prizes.
Aurora Expeditions’ #MyPenguinMoment Photo Competition will start on 12:00am Monday 25 April 2016. Entries close 11:59pm 8 May 2016, AEST. Click here to read the full terms and conditions. Aurora Expeditions host 8 voyages a year, from November 2016 to March 2017 where these magical creatures can be seen during their breeding and hunting season.
Taking in the key sights of South Georgia, Elephant Island, the Scotia Arc and the Weddell sea, passengers on board the impressive Polar Pioneer are given the chance to experience the highlights of the white continent during their fascinating penguin pilgrimage.
